Cheering You On

Just this morning in a coach call with a youth pastor here in town, I prayed with him in light of all that he’s accomplished this past year. It's been quite a fruitful year all around. We needed to pause and talk to God about it!

For one, he has never been more clear about his sense of God’s work in and through his life. This has come especially as he's worked through the first part of NCM Life & Leadership Coaching, developing a Life Plan “to design and live an abundant life.”

It’s been a privilege to walk alongside him and to process his “Life Accounts” in the following areas:

  • Faith
  • Priorities
  • Health
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Finances
  • Service
Another friend shared with me how he recently took a whole day to evaluate the Life Plan he had put together about a year ago now. He wanted to build on it in the new year.

Both of these Christ-followers know that I'm “cheering them on” in life and ministry—all in the spirit of Hebrews 12:1, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us"!

Please know that we at Navigator Church Ministries are here to help you thrive in life and ministry as well. In light of this, here at the outset of the new year, let me encourage you to take some time away—whether at a coffee shop for an hour or a conference center for a day—and assess where you have been this past year and where you would like to go in the new year.

Here are some questions that surfaced in our NCM Life & Leadership Coaching ministry to help you do just that:
  1. What worked well in 2017?
  2. What doors shut in 2017?
  3. How did God re-direct you?
  4. What changes did you make in 2017 that you want to keep in 2018?
  5. What area(s) of your personal life do you need to work on in 2018?
  6. What are your ministry goals in 2018?
  7. How will you be intentional about your goals?
  8. What steps will you put in place?
  9. How will you keep yourself accountable?
  10. How is God leading you to pray—for yourself and those around you?
Recently, The Disciple-Maker from NavPress published a piece I wrote titled “Prayer Priority for Every Day.” You can find it here. Perhaps reading through it might help you consider how to answer that last question—praying for yourself and others. Never forget: God is there, God cares, God hears our prayers.

As part of the "cloud of witnesses" you have cheering you on in the race, let us know how we can be of some support or encouragement to you by contacting us here.

Lord continue to bless and use you in the new year!
